All about small trailers, small motorhomes and other things of interest.

Happy with purchase?
A resounding YES!

With all the activity putzin’ and tweaking I thought I better head off any misinterpretation. This activity is not a bad reflection on the manufacturer, ProLite, but rather an endorsement of ProLite having built an excellent trailer that simply beckons for a few tweaks here and there.

More to come….

  1. we are now the owners of this prolite suite and so far is awesome i can’t feel any drag behind our jetta sportswagen diesel the solar panels work perfectly we only wish it had a shower/washroom but at this size and weight you can’t expect that

  2. Hi ,still happy with the Suite Deluxe?
We are thinking of getting the regular Suite ,were going to build a Chesapeake Light Craft Tear Drop Trailer ,but so much work when we could be out there and no sitting room ,but a large galley storage area for when pulling over etc…
Is your Suite still water tight ?
Thanks,if site is still monitored ….Jim /Hamilton On.

    1. We upgraded to an Aliner Ascape earlier this year. Only one trip on it thus far 🙁
The Suite was in very good condition when we traded but keep in mind that it was stored inside when not in use.
The only water issue we had was at the very beginning due to an inadequate use of sealant when factory installed the solar wiring.

After a few years and miles with the Suite we realized that we wanted a bit more creature comfort and a bit of standing room.

  3. Hello Heinz I have really enjoyed your Suite site.We are considering purchasing from Prolite.Just wondering about delivery time after ordering and did you need to make a large deposit?

    1. If I remember correctly it was a 6 week lead time. Again, if memory serves me right it was a deposit of 5K for the Suite DeLuxe, progress payment and then final before picking up. I then received all the paperwork and got my plate and insurance before I left for Quebec.

Only wrinkle was that they could not treat it as an out-of-Province sale so I had to pay Quebec Sales Tax and then apply for a refund. Refund was painless once I figured out to request it directly from Quebec.

  4. Next weekend I will be looking at a used 2013 Suite in Scarborough. I’m new to trailers, anything in particular I should watch out for?
Owner is asking $7900, which seems steep to me!

    1. Bert, apologies for missing your last question until now.
How did the Suite in Scarborough go?

  5. I come from 40 years of canoe tripping background, where everything you needed for a week had to be paddled and portaged. So I am used to camping in small spaces. Also no refrigeration so we dehydrate most of our food ahead of time. If I get a camper trailer there are a few things I am looking for. Be able to be out of the weather on a foul day and still put together meals. Get out of the bugs when they are bad. On the road I am looking for something else. I want the trailer to be tall enough inside that we can pull over and use a porta potty if need be. I find on road trips it is annoying to have to time your pee breaks or whatever with rests stops that are often few and far between. Not so bad for me i can find some bushes somewhere but awkward for my wife at times. I have lots of quality camping gear already but for boon docking I want an efficient fridge like engel that can run off battery that charges fro solar or from tow vehicle while on the road. I have used ice on a 3 week trip to Newfound land and I don’t like wet soggy food. The Suite looks almost ideal, just it is so light relative most others that I was concerned about durability

  6. Hi…nice to have found you’re website! I have been looking at Silver Shadows, Microlite Cargolite, the up coming T@G, Prolite Suite and Eco 12.
My tow vehicle is a Subaru Crosstrek which is 2L 148 Hp and 5 sp MT. I love the ultra lightweight of the Prolite but am concerned they may be to flimsy for forest access rds. I want to mostly boondock on Northern Ontario backcountry crown land sites near lakes for weekends and weeks of camping. Close to retirement so want also to do some cross Canada vacations. How sturdy/ durable are these trailers? The Eco is not much heavier but is considerably bigger so wind resistance would have substantially more impact on gas mileage? Would you buy this again or get the Echo instead? Or something different like the T@G? Why put the Engel in your car instead of the trailer?

    1. Why the Engel in the car?
We started out with a KoolaTron cooler in the trailer and quickly found that it was a pain in the butt to have to haul it out at night for a little extra room inside. We found that quick lunches, etc. were made tailgate style and even when at a picnic table we found it more convenient to just leave the cooler in the back of the CUV. It also meant that it had power to the cooler as we were “sightseeing”.
We quickly established a routine where the “tailgate” area became our kitchen, similar to the kitchen area in teardrops.
For cold snacks we simply lift the tailgate and everything is at hand. For cooking we pull out the propane camp stove from under the bed via outside access. For quick stops or quick overnight I usually don’t even unhook if level.
For longer stays I unhook and turn the trailer a bit (by hand) to make it a bit easier to access the “kitchen”.

Looking forward to more trailer time. For now I see no reason to go bigger and would not want to go smaller.

    1. Hi Bert,
Almost sounds like you’re following in my footsteps a year back 🙂
I actually started out narrowing in on the Eco 12 before the Suite. Then I ran across the Suite DeLuxe edition and that cinched it. I found that in the Eco 12 there would be lots of space unused and therefore wasted. It was really hard getting a look a Suite out here but eventually I saw one in Edmonton and decided that was all we needed. The alternative would have been a Teardrop but I did not like the lack of sitting space so when I saw the Suite, that was resolved. One can almost stand up, certainly enough to put your pants on. If the weather turns lousy one can sit inside and wait it out. Along with a few additional comfort items, the Suite Deluxe is built on a bit more capacity re running gear.

How would it fare in the backwoods? I think it’ll depend somewhat on your driving. For myself, I drive slow enough that all wheels stay on the ground, I.e. follow the terrain. I imagine you looked at some of the pics that ProLite sent me during construction? I would not hesitate to take it on forestry roads but would not want to go 4 wheeling/mudding with it, or anything else for that matter.

A big concern for me was whether we could adapt to such a small space. I had to try it to find out for sure. We adapted very well, coming from 26 foot motorhome. We have all the “required” space to be comfortable. While at times I think of bigger I very quickly come back to being content and happy. My only reason for getting something different would be to go to 14/15 feet to gain some creature comforts should more inside time be on our horizon.
I would not go less than the Suite for size. Hauling it home was a delight as was our 2 week vacation. Hope to get more time in next year.
