That only lasted a summer or two when we went from a tent to a Volkswagen Bus. Just the bare bus with the sliding roof and windows in the roof. I removed the bench seats and roughly &lt;i&gt;camperized&lt;\/i&gt; it building benches from 3\/4 inch plywood that served as storage and bed.<\/p>\n<p>It served us well for a few years. Our first major camping trip was when we left the Yukon because work on the Gold Dredges dried up due to gold prices fixed at $35 an ounce. Yes, that\u2019s where it was at one time.<\/p>\n<p>We left the Yukon via Alaska in the VW Bus. It was the year after the Anchorage earthquake. A very enjoyable trip.
