All about small trailers, small motorhomes and other things of interest.

What did we do on mySuite this week?

More ‘putzin around to personalize mySuite.

Barrel Bolt added to keep back of seat in place.Added Barrel Bolts to hold the daytime seat-back in place better. As one leaned back the bottom would move out. The bolts will also help to keep the seat-back in place during travel. It had a tendency to wander a bit.

IMG_0490Daytime/Travel mode, without the table being set up of course.

IMG_0504_croppedAlso did a little finger-scrape prevention. Velcro that holds the seat-back cushion in place was simple stapled on. Unfortunately it lacked a bit of care as the staples were too long and left sticking out.

Bent them over and actually topped it up by covering them with some good ‘ol Duct Tape.

Fixed a splinter-in-the-finger potential where a door latch install splintered the wood. Next size smaller screw might have prevented it. To fix I removed the latch and glued a backing piece in and reinstalled the latch. A different one actually so that I could remove the door handle to gain and extra inch. Every little bit counts.

Worked on 12 Volt electric some too.

Added a fuse block under the sink onto an existing stiffener.

Using additional 12 Volt outlets in conjunction with dual USB adapters for iPhone, iPad, GoPro camera, etc.

Looks a bit like a rats nest but is very functional and door is usually closed.

IMG_0506Another tweak was the addition of a couple of baskets in the cabinet. The cabinet has the AM/FM antenna installed and I added the TV antenna switch. The TV antenna power is on its own switch so that it can be turned off when no TV reception and/or all power needed for computer/phone.

The other side of the cabinet holds a few DVD’s so no room for more baskets.

  1. No luck. I guess I’ll try Kijiji. Had no trouble selling the Coleman that came with the trailer. At the time Walmart and everyone else was having a sale on them so I sold it for 50 bucks.

  2. I put my Coleman 5645 on Kijiji today…asking $100. Did you sell yours Heinz?

  3. Thanks, this I can understand…lol!

  4. I may have it sold. Just had a bite.

  5. So, like an extention cord with 12V connector each end to plug fridge into trailer when car is shut off?

    1. Correct. Male one end, female the other end.
You might be able to find a ready made. If not, buy the ends and build. I would suggest to solder the ends.
      Check truck shops, parts stores.

    2. If you can get a length of 2-wire #10 cabtire electrical cord (extension cord) it would make a nice 12V extension. Failing that, build one out of automotive #10 stranded and use the split wire covering to cover it. Be sure to twist the wires first, I.e. you want a twisted pair.

I actually used a #10 3-wire extension cord, with ground not used. I’ll use that when trailer is unhitched and I need a bit more length. 2-wire would have made it a bit nicer/smaller but I had the 3-wire hanging in the White Elephant corner 🙂

  6. I got the small one TF31
I come from years of canoe tripping background with no refrigeration. I think (hope) this will do nicely for the few things I would bring that require refrigeration.

Not sure what to do with my never used Koolatron now!!

    1. I put mine back on Craigslist again but no bites. It’ll end up in the White Elephant corner. It won’t be lonely, have a few items that never panned out as hoped/intended 🙂

  7. Bert, you could accomplish same with a simple cheater cord. Well, maybe not quite ‘simple’ as you’d have to make a cord of at least #10 wire to minimize loss, and then plug it in to the external 12Volt.
    What TruckFridge did you get?

  8. Heinz, I did your barrel bolt mod this weekend, will also do the window safety pin mod. Would love to do your electrical adaption for my newly acquired truckfridge to travel in back of the Suby, but I read through it and its probably over my head at this point.
